Magento Closes Its Doors on ProStores & Go Versions
What is Magento ProStores & Magento Go?
Magento is an eCommerce platform and a division of eBay Enterprise. Two of the Magento Ecommerce solutions which are geared toward small and mid-sized online business are the Magento Go and Magento ProStores platforms. According to Magento, these two platforms are being used by approximately 10,000 merchants and will be discontinued on February 1, 2015.
What Does the End of ProStores & Go Mean to Current Users?
If an online e-retailer is currently using the Magento Go or Magento ProStores platforms, they can be migrated to over 50 supported carts. One such cart available to transition to is Cart2Cart. They offer a free demo, pricing details for migration, and some responsive templates to preview.
eBay has named BigCommerce as its exclusive migration provider. BigCommerce boasts having previously migrated over 6,000 stores from other platforms. In addition, Senior Vice President of Product and Strategy at eBay Enterprise Mark Lavelle said, “We chose BigCommerce to help with the transition because of their shared commitment to client success and their proven track record of migrating large groups of merchants onto their platform.”

BigCommerce is offering to migrate the affected Magento users to its platform for free.
What If Users Are on Magento Community or Enterprise Editions?
These two platforms of Magento are not being affected by the Magento Go or Magento ProStores shutdown. Additionally, there are migration options being offered that will allow for current users to transition to the Community or Enterprise Editions of Magento.
